Alarming  reports of fights resulting in deaths in Morobe Province is a major concern for the wider community and stakeholders and is a wake up call for authorities to intervene and look into possible ways to address. Fighting and deaths have been reported since 2022 after the National General Election and is reportedly ongoing and is rising in different electorates. Police alone cannot address these issues. Two infants were among 17 passengers who went missing along the Fly river in the middle Fly district, Western Province. The kids are one a month old and the other three weeks old. Both were with their parents with other passengers who boarded a 40-horsepower engine dinghy at Kiunga wharf last Saturday at 11 am and were traveling to Lake Murray. Another ethnic clash has erupted in the city of Lae in the Morobe province this morning, this time its between the Eastern Highlanders and the Southern Highlanders. According to Lae police, the fight erupted at 3 mile hillside after a suspect, an elderly man from Southern Highlands whilst under the influence of alcohol, sexually assaulted a teenage girl from Eastern Highlands Province.
