Today marked the signing of two new Memoranda of Understanding between the Federal Court of Australia and the National and Supreme Court of Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the High Court of Solomon Islands. Australia High Commission to PNG in a statement stated that our national courts play a critical role in a safe, prosperous and peaceful region. Australia is proud to partner with PNG and the Solomon Islands in pursuing this common goal. “Chief Justice Sir Gibuma Gibbs Salika represented the Supreme Court of PNG, while the Federal Court of Australia was represented by Chief Justice Debra Mortimer, and the High Court of Solomon Islands was represented by Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer.” “With a long history of shared values, legal traditions, commitment to democracy and the rule of law, Australia, PNG and Solomon Islands are close friends and natural partners in law and justice.
