A Twin Otter aircraft registered as P2-AXL veered off the runway during landing at Kerema airport in the Gulf Province today.
The plane came to a stop in a grassy area beside the airstrip, with its nose slightly tilted downward and its tail elevated up forming an acute angle.
The Provincial Police Commander for Gulf, Jeffery Lam confirmed the incident, but no further details about what caused the accident or if there were any casualties have been released, but factors such as weather conditions, runway surface, or mechanical issues could have played a role.
