Papua New Guinea has recorded 53 new COVID-19 cases this week, increasing the total number of cases to 15,901.
The cases were reported in six provinces with Southern Highlands Province reporting the highest of 22 cases, followed by Eastern Highlands with 20, National Capital District seven cases, Simbu two cases and Morobe and Enga a single case each.
Of the 53 cases recorded, 28 were males and 25 were females. Their ages range between four to 77 years. At the time of testing, 36 cases were showing symptoms of COVID-19.
The country’s COVID-19 cases now stands at with 162 known deaths. All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 169,118,995 including 516,215 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll stands at 3,519,175.
