“There are 46 Family Sexual Violence Unit attached with all the Police Stations throughout the country and victims of violence must seek help as soon as they can before it’s too late.”
That is from Ms Ruth Kissam the Ms Ruth Kissam at humanitarian NGO, PNG Tribal Foundation.
Ms Kissam made this statement following the recent killing of late Imelda Tupi Epawe whose body was found in an abandoned vehicle at Kaupena and later brought to Mt Hagen General Hospital Morgue.
It is a very sad scenario when the suspects involved in her death is someone she knew and trusted, allegedly her own husband, along with four other accomplices.
Ms. Kissam stated that all this boils down to individual choices and as a woman you must choose well because you only got one life to live.
“Gender based violence survivors must individually reflect on their life and the life they want for themselves and their children and choose better.”
She further reiterates that women should never be ashamed of leaving their violent partners because there is no stigma and there should not be any fear in raising your children alone.
“Single mothers are successfully doing this and so can you.”
“Mothers and children who find themselves victims of Gender Based Violence must seek help as soon as possible from the 46 Family and Sexual Violence Unit available around the country while you can.
“You should never delay, or it will be too late!”
