Police Commissioner and Controller of the PNG COVID-19 National Pandemic Response Mr David Manning has called upon citizens to continue to comply with the measures in the new normal or “Niupela Pasin”.
He said recovering from COVID-19 does not mean that the danger is over. The country’s COVID-19 cases are still climbing and public support is needed to contain the pandemic from spreading even further.
Mr Manning said everyone must continue to:
· Regularly wash hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based sanitizer;
· Maintain a physical distance of at least 1.5 meters between themselves and others;
· Avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth;
· Greet others with a smile, a nod or a simple hello – no handshakes, fist bumps or high fives;
· Cough and sneeze in their bent elbow and not their hands;
· Limit social gathering and time spent in crowded places;
· Wear a face mask or face covering in all public places to protect themselves and others; and
· Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
