East New Britain (ENB) Governor Michael Marum, has praised the strong sense of unity and generosity shown by Papua New Guineans and supporters at the Guria Gala Ball, held in Brisbane in Australia, as part of the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
The gala drew a diverse crowd not only from ENB but also from other provinces.
Governor Marum extended heartfelt thanks to President Elsie Lee and her executive team for their leadership in organizing the event, which successfully brought together Papua New Guineans, Australians, and friends of PNG for a meaningful cause.
Also, in attendance was Jelta Wong, Member for Gazelle.
The funds raised during the evening will go toward education and health initiatives in rural parts of the province where government services are often limited.
With that, Governor Marum highlighted the significance of these contributions.
“When you give, you are investing directly in the next generation of Papua New Guineans.”
Meanwhile, he also acknowledged the ongoing support from Australian partners, including Rotary and Lions Clubs, whose work in communities across Papua New Guinea continues to make a lasting impact.
“On behalf of the people of East New Britain, thank you for your generosity and commitment.”
“You remind us that, no matter the distance, our people remain united in purpose and vision.”
