The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) will host a Police-Band parade and first ever musical band Tattoo competition in honor of the nation’s 50th Independence Anniversary, the event to take place on Tuesday July 22nd in Port Moresby city.
This band tattoo and parade will feature Police bands of nine countries from around the Pacific to perform at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.
The occasion will be a cultural event that brings people from around the Pacific together, featuring Police Bands from Fiji, Australia, Solomon Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, New Zealand, Kiribati, Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu, as well as the PNG Correctional Services Band.
The Tattoo will follow the Pacific Policing Forum in Port Moresby that will bring together Police Commissioners from around the region working on confronting domestic and regional security threats.
The RPNGC will stage an opening Day Parade at Ela Beach on Sunday 20th July 2025, to commemorate the start of this main event, presenting members of the Special Services Division, the Police Dog Unit and Water Police performing drills and demonstration exercises.
Strong police action remains significant for everyone in our communities to eliminate criminal activities, while the Police Band Tattoo provides an opportunity to take a moment to celebrate tradition and music with the public.
Culture and togetherness are important in the Pacific, not matter what job or position a person holds, so the Tattoo is a fitting conclusion to our forum in July.
This Tattoo is a proud first for the Pacific and one that will showcase not only regional identity and talent, but also the strength of policing relationships at a time at its most crucial importance.
This year is significant for Papua New Guinea as it will soon celebrate 50 years of independence.
The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary has extended its invitation to all residents of NCD to attend the opening day parade at the Ela Beach on Sunday 20th July, 2025.
