The ENB Agmark Gurias exploded with a dominant 32-10 victory over the Lae Snax Tigers in Round 12 of the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup at Queen Elizabeth Park on Saturday July 5th, 2025, sending a strong statement to upcoming competitors.
It was a clinical performance from the home side, who outclassed the Tigers in every division, running in six tries over two in front of a passionate Rabaul crowd, at the Queen Elizabeth Park, ENB.
Despite Lae’s Jaran Pitten opening the scoreboard after the first 10minutes, the Gurias sparked into life midway through the first half after as Myles Banam responded after 20 minutes, followed quickly by a double from the electric Derrick Voku (25, 43 minutes), setting the tone for the Gurias’ dominance.
Meanwhile, further tries were carried out by Guria’s Steven Bruno, Gregan Foremat, and Chris Benjamin sealed the result.
Joshua Mire was solid with the boot, landing four conversions from six attempts, keeping the scoreboard pressure on.
The Tigers struggled to match the Gurias’ intensity and structure, with only Kevin Yako adding a late try and Mark Alunga converting once, trailing 10-32.
Both sides had yellow cards in the second half with Gurias Mek Karap and Tiger’s Emmanuel Alfred sin-binned following a brief on-field scuffle.
This convincing win lifts the Gurias’ momentum as they charge into the business end of the season, while the Tigers will need to regroup quickly if they hope to remain in the finals race.
The Tigers will look to regroup and prepare for round 13 against the Asila Waghi Tumbe in Lae League Grounds on Sunday 13th July 2025.
Meanwhile, the Gurias will focus on facing another round-12 champion, the WNBP Kimbe Cutters in Humphrey Oval, Kimbe WNBP, on Saturday 12th July 2025.
