Moreover, in reflecting on the EU’s origin, PM Marape paid tribute to French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman, whose 1950 vision laid the foundation for the European Union.
“Schuman’s vision reminds us that even one person’s idea, grounded in peace and partnership, can shape global history. That same spirit of unity is what we celebrate today.”
The Prime Minister concluded by thanking the EU for ‘finding a home in the Pacific.’
“Though 12, 000 kilometers may separate us, in every sense you are close to us. The EU has a home here in Papua New Guinea, and we thank you for being part of our journey toward peace, development, and shared prosperity.”
