Tropical Cyclone Alfred Category 1 has now moved away from Papua New Guinea and is now lying on the Eastern seaboard of Queensland.
However, with the Tropical Cyclone season still in active in the Southern Hemisphere and rainy season in the country, the National Weather Service has reissued heavy rains and flash flood warnings.
Warning areas that will possibly be affected are Western Province, Gulf Province, Central Province, Southern Highlands, Western Highlands and Jiwaka Province.
Everyone who lives within these areas are urged to take necessary precautions during this period.
All are warned to move away from water ways, river and creek banks and move to higher ground in case of flash flood during this heavy rain period.
The warning is valid fore the next 24hrs whereby all four (4) regions will expect scattered showers and isolated thunderstorm with rain.
