The Tanuga Primary School in Lake Kutubu will soon have a four in one (4 in 1) Double Classroom thanks to the generous support of K304,245 from the Wame Blood Group Of Companies (WBGC).
The Managing director of WBGC and FOE Association Inc. Chairman, Johnny Yawari presented the cheque to Atlas Steel PNG on Tuesday 04th February.
The total project cost was expected to reach K1 million, factoring in additional expenses such as labor, security, transportation, and freighting.
However, the issued cheque covered only the fabrication costs for the building structure and interior fit-out, excluding these supplementary costs.
The Foe Association continues to make significant strides in human resource and infrastructure development in Kutubu LLG, with its latest investment focused on education.
While presenting the cheque, Mr. Yawari reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the education sector in line with the association’s long-term development plans, recognizing its crucial role in shaping a progressive society.
Mr. Yawari emphasized that meaningful change and transformation in Kutubu require collective efforts from all stakeholders, including the Provincial Government and Districts, to create strong educational pathways.
He stressed that investing in human resource capacity is essential, as it serves as a catalyst for progress.
As part of this commitment, Mr Yawari confirmed funding for staff housing at Tanuga and Gesege Primary Schools, a double classroom for Kikori High School, a low-set duplex for K-Point Community School, and a low-set double classroom for Kantobo.
He also highlighted Foe Association’s longstanding partnership with Atlas Steel, which has successfully delivered two similar school building projects, with this initiative marking their third.
Atlas Steel PNG will supply materials to Foe Investment Corporation Limited for the Kutubu educational project, benefiting over 7,000 primary students at Tanuga Primary School having access to school-friendly facilities.
The Chairman further clarified that the funds presented to Atlas Steel PNG was not from donor agencies or government institutions.
Furthermore, Mr. Yawari revealed that the funds were raised through the “Artists For A Cause” concert at Hilton Hotel on November 10, 2023, featuring performances by local PNG artists and Wame Blood band.
He also confirmed that Foe Investment Corporation, with support from the Nipa Kutubu District Development Authority (NKDDA), will construct two staff houses for Kutubu Secondary School.
“I’d like to extend my appreciation to the Minister for Defence Hon. Dr. Billy Joseph for the appropriate intervention in supporting Foe Association and the people of Lake Kutubu through this timely support.”
“Foe association thankfully recognizes the support given by every individual who turned up at the fundraising concert to purchase a table and support a worthy cause.”
