Fifteen employees from the Department for Community Development and Religion were recently honored in a farewell ceremony as they transition into retirement.
The retirees, whose ages range from 55 to 71, have held various roles within the Department and were celebrated for their significant contributions to the state.
Secretary Jerry Ubase expressed his gratitude to the retirees for their unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of vulnerable and marginalized communities in Papua New Guinea.
“Your dedication has profoundly influenced the lives of many Papua New Guineans.”
“As you embark on this new chapter, we honor your legacy and wish you all the best.”
Deputy Secretary Karen Haive also acknowledged the retiring staff, commending their pride and dedication as public servants, not just to the Department but to the nation.
“It has been a remarkable journey, and each of you has played a vital role in it.”
While these employees will no longer be present in the office, Haive encouraged current staff to keep in touch and continue learning from their experiences.
Among the retirees, ten were women, with four having dedicated over 40 years to public service within the Department.
Notably, Isabel Salatiel began her public service career in 1973 as a Grade 1 pay officer and eventually became the Director of Child Welfare in 2005, achieving Grade 18 before her retirement after 47 years.
The farewell ceremony featured the presentation of certificates of appreciation and retirement packages, symbolizing the Department’s recognition of their service.
