The Under 14 division in the 100- 200 Meter Dash displayed exceptional skills among the young boys and girls going all out for their teams in the recent PNG Air National Athletics Championship (NAC) 2024 held in Port Moresby.
Despite being newbies in the PNG NAC and among their teammates, these young athletes performed to the best of their ability. Their dedicated and determined performance proved their desire to be among the best in their team and division.
The Top 3 100-meter dash U14 boys’ category saw Tristan Ravusiro from Port Moresby International School (POMIS) emerge as the top performer with an impressive time of 13.95 seconds alongside his teammate, Qwentan Wesley, clocking in at 14.03 seconds. Raphael Apini from Kokofa Athletics also made a notable finish with a time of 15.67 seconds, rounding out the top three in this event.
Meanwhile, the girls’ 200 Meter Dash event was equally thrilling, with Geua Arere, an unattached athlete, claiming victory with a time of 30.38 seconds. Tul Lalie Amelia from Kokofa Athletics secured the second spot with a time of 32.48 seconds, while her teammates Nastassia Namba and Arleen Pododrua finished closely behind, clocking in at 33.08 and 33.28 seconds, respectively.
Raphael Apini of Kokofa Athletics showcased his talent by finishing the 200-meter dash in 31.48 seconds, reaffirming his status as a top young athlete.
Meanwhile, Qwentan Wesley from Pomis displayed remarkable endurance and speed in the 400-meter run, finishing with a time of 1:12.40, highlighting his versatility and athletic prowess.
These young athletes from around the nation showcased their prowess and potential in recent track events, leaving spectators in awe of their capabilities.
The competition was fierce, yet these budding stars managed to shine brightly, demonstrating not only their physical abilities but also their dedication to their sport.
