Two new senior police officers will take the position as Police Station Commanders (PSC) in Gordons and Nine Mile in the Port Moresby Northeast Electorate.
The Commander of National Capital District (NCD) and Central Province, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Turi, has evaluated and appointed new senior officers with a wealth of experience in policing to take charge of the two Police Stations.
ACP Turi announced that he has appointed Senior Inspector Jeffery Simewa as the new acting Gordons PSC, while the former PSC Gabriel Kini remain under investigation for a traffic accident this morning involving a police vehicle.
Meanwhile, ACP Turi stated that he has appointed former commander of NCD Barracks, Inspector Leonard Wai as the new acting Nine Mile PSC.
“Their Appointment is to maintain the continuity of Police Service in the command.”
“We all must work with him and the officers to maintain what the good officers and the management had done to clean up Gordons,” Commander Turi said.
The new Nine Mile Police station that will be opened tomorrow, will be under the command of Inspector Leonard Wai.
Furthermore, ACP Turi added that the police service in the command will continue, and those who step out of line will be disciplined accordingly.
ACP Turi is urging the public to work closely with the new commanders to make the Moresby North East a better place to live.
“We will need each and everyone to work with the police officers down the ranks and files,” commander Turi said.
