Prime Minister James Marape has announced a special pay run to address affected salary issues for PNG Defence Force personnel.
The issue has been pending since last week when what was scheduled to be the upgrade of their salary, was not implemented due to slow data input by the Department of Defence.
But this is expected to be sorted out today, according to the prime minister.
“Government has given the assurance that a special pay run will be made, and as I speak today, a special pay run is being made for them.”
Prime Minister Marape further commended their professional manner in handling their affected salary issue.
The prime minister also praised the defense force for handling their pay and paperwork correctly.
He acknowledged that sometimes administrative processes can be slow, but stressed the importance of following the Rule of Law, highlighting the need to avoid unlawful actions, when contrasting it with the recent misconduct by some police officers on January 10th.
He expressed gratitude to the defense force for upholding the law and facilitating administrative tasks.
