Tokarara Nest United is one of the 48 teams taking part in the 2022 Governor’s cup that that is currently going on at the Ipi Park, Port Moresby.
In a tough match with the Pom Mengies, both teams went away on Wednesday with the same score line of four points all in Pool C.
Assistant Coach Francis Asi said, a lot of top teams are taking part in this tournament which is going to be a hard battle for them.
The team is looking forward for more matches in their round robin pool and determined for place in the top eight.
“We as a team have short term goals and long term goals we already set and working towards them. Our short goal is make sure we amongst the eight teams that will make the top eight and our long term goal is to win the premiership”.
He further urged players to focus and play hard in order to earn a good ending results at the end of the competition.
“We had a good team last year which we went as far as to the knock out matches but unlucky to make into the finals and for this year we looking forward to making it to the grand final.”
Mr. Asi added they are using rugby league as way of bringing young talents of Tokarara, Waigani, Hohola and June Valley together and build them in sports.
“We seeing development of rugby league as a tool to change youth mindsets and keep them way from social issues in the communities”.
