The contract of Santos PNG Orchids player Joanne Lagona has been terminated due to a breach of contract.
Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) CEO Mr Stanley Hondina said, ” As part of the process of building a new elite pathway for the Santos PNG Orchids is to raise and maintain standards of conduct. This applies equally to all players and staff, and those involved in the RLWC2021 Campaign have signed contracts accordingly.”
“This is disappointing situation but the termination of Joanne’s contract reflects the standards we expect of our national team personnel.”
“The systems and processes we are putting in place now for the Santos PNG Orchids will outlast all of us in our current roles and are for the benefit of future generations of Orchids. As we work hard now to set those stnadards we expect every member of the team to uphold them with the utmost respect.”
“We want to be globally competitive n the field, and that cannot be achieved without having the right systems and processes off the field.”
A decision on whether a replacement player will be added to the squad for RLWC2022 will be made in due course.”
