Cricket PNG today announced a three-year digital partnership with Australian sports technology and media company, InteractSport. The vision of Cricket PNG is to ensure cricket is the sport for everyone, inspiring positive change. Partnering with InteractSport, using their FrogBox platform, allows online streaming of games to all of PNG, and as adoption of technology increases, so does the reach of cricket.
CEO Greg Campbell spoke of the alignment with the strategic plan for Cricket PNG where profile enhancement has been highlighted. “We made a commitment that we want to make cricket available to the people of PNG. With this partnership, we can live stream our domestic and international fixtures, across PNG and we can also showcase our cricket to the world.”
InteractSport has several long-term digital partnerships with other cricket bodies including Cricket Australia, and the England Cricket Board. Cricket PNG now has a dedicated Match centre that allows fans to watch live streamed matches, along with match highlights, analysis, statistics, and schedules. The Isuzu Barras Bash, featuring both Barras and Lewas players, are the first to be live streamed via InteractSport’s “FrogBox” streaming service.
Campbell spoke about the benefit it will bring to all cricket stakeholders in the PNG:
“This digital partnership represents an important milestone for Cricket PNG and it brings value in a number of areas, including allowing us to engage and connect directly with our cricket community and fans like never before. Live streaming that can be scaled for international broadcasts can bring new audiences to our game and new opportunities for our commercial partners.
Our long-term goal is to offer this platform to other areas in PNG, reducing administration, and allowing player and team performances to be immediately communicated.”
InteractSport’s Head of Global Partnership, Tim Anderson, said the adoption of digital technology was now more important than ever before: “We all live in an increasingly digital world, meaning digital engagement is no longer a nice to have for sports organisations, it is a must have. It’s therefore great to launch this partnership with Cricket PNG who are embracing this need in order to better connect with their fans, players, clubs and commercial partners.”
