Almost 70 young models stepped out in synchronicity as rehearsals began in earnest for the 2021 bmobile Project Runway.
These young ladies are rehearsing every Sunday for the 2021 bmobile Project Runway which will be staged at the Alibi Bar and Grill, Harbourside, in Port Moresby on Saturday August 28.
With only a few weeks away, Passion, Strength, Beauty – has become the catchphrase of the 2021 bmobile Project Runway, an event that is being organized by the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) PNG.
The models are being coached by Ms Aline Adita, a renowned Indonesian runway model and social influencer who moved to Port Moresby from Bali recently.
Chairperson of the MPIP PNG, Mrs Molly O’Rourke said the 2021 bmobile Project Runway would be an extravaganza with the aim of raising funds for the MPIP PNG Scholarship Fund; and to create awareness and sales of unique items created by PNG designers.
“The MPIP PNG Scholarship Fund has been the foundation of MPIP PNG since its inception in 2012. It really saddened us that we could not provide scholarships to young women last year and this year because we could not raise funds through the Crowning of Miss Papua New Guinea.”
“MPIP PNG has two main functions-
Empowerment of women through education and mentoring. This is done through our pageant and the scholarship fund.
The other is empowerment of women through economic activities or SMEs. This is done through the Project Runway which promotes creativity and ethnic cultural identity in a fusion of fashion.”
“I am proud to announce that 2021 bmobile Project Runway has attracted 10 designers, whose creations will be showcased by 70 models who have been rehearsing for three weeks now.”
