In true Lasallian fashion, Jubilee Catholic Secondary School in the nation’s capital recently contributed 30 cartons of books in support of the UPNG Oro Students Association’s ongoing book drive targeted at assisting rural schools in the Oro Province.
UPNG Oro Students Association President Ms Irene Daingo, in acknowledging this gesture, thanked Jubilee Catholic Secondary for being the first school to support the cause with the donation of books, comprising of text books as well as general reading books.
“We’ve been fundraising to buy text books that the schools can use because most of the rural schools in Oro do not have these much-needed materials.”
“Jubilee is the first school to come onboard with our book bin initiative.”
“We’ve written to several other schools, both public and private schools and are yet to receive responses from them,” she said.
Ms Daingo added that the Oro Students Association will continue with their fundraising drive for the purchase of much needed resource books to complement donations received through the book drive initiative.
