Papua New Guinea has recorded 73 new COVID-19 cases last week, increasing the total number of cases to 16,258.
The PNG death toll has also increased to 164 with two deaths recorded for the same period, one each in the National Capital District and the Eastern Highlands Province.
The new cases were recorded in ten provinces in PNG.
There were 37 males and 36 females between the ages of 15 and 74 years. Thirty-nine of the new cases were symptomatic, 22 had existing medical conditions and five were hospitalized.
Twelve of the new cases had contact with COVID-19 cases.
To date the country has done 116,743 tests. Of the 16,258 confirmed cases, 164 have died whilst 15,545 have recovered, 549 cases are active within the last 21-day period and 255 tests pending laboratory results.
