98 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded for PNG including 8 deaths over a 3-day period between 14th -16th July 2021.
The new cases and deaths were reported for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of last week bringing PNG’s total confirmed cases to 17,467 with 187 known deaths.
The cases include 56 new cases and 7 deaths on Wednesday, 39 new cases and one death on Thursday and 3 new cases on Friday.
On Friday, the cases were reported in three provinces. West Sepik, East Sepik and Hela reported a single case each.
On Thursday, 39 new cases were reported in 5 provinces. Manus reported the highest of 20 cases whilst the National Capital District reported eight cases. Morobe reported six cases, Western Highlands four and East New Britain a single case.
Of the 39 reported cases, 26 were males and 13 were females. Their ages range from nine to 71 years.
Twenty-two out of the 39 cases were experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing.
While on Wednesday, the 7 deaths were reported in two provinces. Madang reported six COVID-19 deaths whilst Western Highlands reported a single death.
Of the seven reported deaths, three were males whilst four were females, all between the ages of 15 to 80 years.
The 56 new cases reported included West Sepik province with the highest of 44 cases. East New Britain and Western Highlands reported three cases each whilst National Capital District, Madang and Gulf reported two cases each.
Of the 56 reported cases, 37 were males and 19 were females. Their ages range from 17 to 74 years. Seventeen out of the 56 cases were experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing.
The total cumulative recoveries stands at 17,146. To date, a total of 143,305 people have tested for COVID-19.
All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 189,625,953 including 485,767 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll stands at 4,081,061 including 6,942 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
