The Papua New Guinea (PNG) Boxing Union has announced that on the 19th of April, Port Moresby city will see the commencement of the 2025 Kokoda Cup Challenge at the Lamana Gold Club Arena.
The announcement today saw the attendance of executive representatives from partners and sponsors including, PNG Boxing Union President Dr. Dideon Kendino, Lamana Hotel General Manager Jacquie Simons and the National Finance Representative, Monica Sariman.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Kendino was pleased to announce that the event will run from 11:30am to 5pm, with the official opening for international fights at 2pm.
Dr. Kendino further extended his gratitude to the major sponsors, the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited, Lamana Hotel, National Finance and minor sponsors including Wind Pack Construction, and National Road Transport Authority.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Sariman and Mrs. Simons as sponsors proudly welcomed the Kokoda Cup Challenge, expressing commitment to the PNG Boxing Union to support youth sports, especially with the diverse participation in PNG’s Boxing league, empowering both men and women.
When asked about the lack of support from the National Government for the PNG Boxing Union, Dr. Kendino opted not make any comments on that and said the focus is now on the upcoming fight night.
Dr. Kendino stressed appreciation and commended the partners and sponsors’ contributions to bring the 2025 Kokoda Cup Challenge.
Furthermore, he stated that five local fights will introduce the international fights, 2 women fights and 3 men. Nine international matches will be carried out with seven men fights and two female fights.
Ticket prices range from K50 for Arena and K8,000 for balcony corporate package (full service) of Food and Drinks.
