67 new active Delta variant cases have just been confirmed from 6 different provinces throughout PNG. 23 Delta variant cases here in NCD, 35 in West Sepik, 4 in Central, 2 in Milne Bay and Morobe respectively and 1 in Hela province. 2 Delta variant related deaths have also been announced in Western Highlands over the last 24 hours. Data shows that there has being ongoing transmission in August 2021 to the earlier weeks of September 2021. On the 17th of August 2021 the one delta case from Central province was an imported case from the Philippines, Central Province also began detecting Delta cases first and second week of September 2021. Morobe and Miline Bay began detecting cases 1st week of September. NCD is observed to experiencing a delta surge beginning in late August into September.
