3 NEW COVID-19 CASES RECORDED THIS WEEK – PNG TOTAL AT 17,041

Papua New Guinea has recorded three new COVID-19 cases this week, increasing the total number of cases to 17,041.

The cases were reported in two provinces with the National Capital District reporting two cases whilst Eastern Highlands reported a single case.

Of the three cases reported, one is a male whilst two are females. Their ages range from 25 to 48 years.

A total of 130,467 people have tested for COVID-19. The country’s COVID-19 cases now stands at 17,041 with 173 known deaths. A total of 16,443 recoveries have been recorded to date.

All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases. The distribution of the cases are as follows:

  2. · Western Province - 2,391;
  3. · Morobe - 1,190;
  4. · East New Britain - 1,172;
  5. · Western Highlands - 1,016;
  6. · West New Britain - 1,020;
  7. · Eastern Highlands – 728;
  8. · New Ireland – 534;
  9. · West Sepik – 445;
  10. · AROB – 406;
  11. · Madang – 427;
  12. · Central – 270;
  13. · Enga – 279;
  14. · East Sepik – 252;
  15. · Manus – 479;
  16. · Simbu – 236;
  17. · SHP – 209;
  18. · Oro – 196;
  19. · Jiwaka – 153;
  20. · Milne Bay – 218;
  21. · Hela – 146; and
  22. · Gulf – 126.
  23. Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 178,202,610 including 336,450 new cases reported this week. The death toll stands at 3,865,738 including 6,263 deaths reported this week.
