Prime Minister Hon. James Marape, MP presented a dummy cheque of K10 million, as symbol of funds of the same amount to be remitted to the Manus Provincial Health Authority.
The Prime Minister has urged the PHA to use the funds to start the construction of a, separate from the main hospital, 1000 bed isolation and treatment facility for COVID-19 and other Respiratory disease patients.
Prime Minister Marape said that funding is separate from the budget K15 million for a new modern hospital facility to be located at good location that people of Manus can reach easily.
Manus Provincial Health Authority Chairman Mr. Robert Siwer thanked the Prime Minister for the Funding and the commitment to build a new hospital for the Province.
He said the current hospital is about 20 years old and they are maintaining it continuously to keep it running for the people therefore a new hospital is needed.
