Seventeen new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Sunday June 6, increasing the total number of cases in Papua New Guinea to 16,391.
The cases were reported in four provinces with New Ireland Province reporting the highest of 13 cases. The National Capital District reported two cases whilst Eastern Highlands and Hela reported a single case each.
Of the 17 cases reported, 13 were males whilst four were females. Their ages range from 28 to 69 years. A total of eight cases were showing symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing.
The country’s COVID-19 cases now stands at 16,391 with 164 known deaths. All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 172,242,495 including 449,332 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll stands at 3,709,397 including 10,714 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
