Papua New Guinea has recorded 15 new COVID-19 cases on Monday 26 July, increasing the total number of cases to 17,670.
The cases were reported in five provinces.
Morobe reported eight, Madang four and the National Capital District, Western Highlands and Jiwaka all reported a single case each.
Of the 15 cases, 10 were males whilst five were females. Their ages range between 52 and 59 years.
Eight out of the 15 cases were experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing.
The country’s COVID-19 cases now stands at 17,670 with 192 known deaths. The total cumulative recoveries stands at 17,261.
To date, a total of 145,959 people have tested for COVID-19.
All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.
Of the 17,670 COVID-19 cases confirmed to date:
• 11,137 are males;
• 6,376 are females;
• 9,520 are symptomatic;
• 3,560 had comorbidities;
• 578 had to be hospitalized;
• 40 were placed on ventilation;
• 3,456 had contact with confirmed cases; and
• 1,649 were health care workers.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 194,367,010 including 485,128 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.
The global death toll stands at 4,167,742 including 7,999 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
